Vladimir Tod was born a vampire. He knows this from the beginning of the series The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer. Vlad- as he likes to be called for short- had a normal, human mom and a dad that was a vampire, resulting in him born a vampire instead of turned into one. Besides the fact that his parents died in some kind of fire, Vlad's life is pretty good- he lives with his mom's best friend Nelly who gets him blood bags to eat from- forget about feeding from a living human!- and goes to school with his best friend, Henry, although Henry does like girls too much. But when Vlad finds out that his parents may have been murdered rather than killed in an accident, and that there might be another vampire after him, and discovers secrets left in his father's journal, his normal-vampire life is changed forever! Vlad also needs to learn more about his powers and weaknesses- he can hover, which is cool, but is 'allergic' to garlic, which is dangerous. On top of all this, he has to keep his secret from the rest of the world! This book series also includes an element of mystery as well, that keeps readers wanting to solve it just as much as Vlad does! There are a few parts that are creepy or scary, but this isn't a horror book at all and most older readers will be able to deal with these, or skip them if they choose. But this book is different from some other vampire books- Vlad is practically the living version of the vampire legends, except for a few facts such as that the whole no-reflection thing is fake. Enjoy the adventures of Vladimir Tod, the teenage vampire!
